How to choose my Eyeglasses?

Morphology:

All frames must be in harmony with the face shape.
- for oval faces: all shapes are possible
- for square faces: we recommend forms of oval glasses; large sizes, soft lines
-For round faces: you can play with angular lines, shapes that
lengthen the face or enlarge it.

Shapes of eyeglass frames: There are rectangles, squares, ovals, aviators, rounds and butterflies.

The basic rule for frame selection is:
- The frame should never touch the cheeks while smiling
- It must follow the shape of the eyebrows, never above, the branches must be long enough.
In general, a customer will look for a light and / or comfortable, annalergic resistant frame.

How to read a reference?

All frames have a reference number, a color, and a size that characterise them For example:  RB 3016 W0366
RB 3016 it´s the reference number Ray Ban´s frames
W0366 it´s the color code
49: it´s the rod width in mm
21: it´s the nose size

What is the pupillary deviation?

The pupillary distance is the distance between the center of each of your pupils and the middle of the nose
This value may be different for both eyes
ec1
We ask for this value in the prescription, because we have to focus the lenses of your glasses. For a perfect vision, the optical center of the lens should be in front of the pupil.

How to know your pupillary distance?
  1. Ask your ophthalmologist
  2. Read your latest prescription glasses
  3. Measure with a friend help
  4. Send us a picture of you from the front with a bank card type under your nose.
1- Demander à votre ophtalmologiste During your ophthalmologist  consultation, ask him to measure your pupillary distance, preferably the left and right eye value differences.

This is the easiest and safest way to know exactly what your pupillary distance is.

2- Find your pupillary distance in your latest prescription glasses.
The value of your pupillary distance is often written on the prescription or on the card that is delivered with the glasses. This value is between 25 mm and 35 mm, usually for an adult is about 30mm.

3- Measure with a friend help
You must find an object with which you can measure a measure of length (rule of the school, meter ...) and verify that it is measured in millimeters.
Fix the left eye on your friend while measuring the distance between the center of the nose and right pupil. This provides half the correct distance.
Repeat for the other eye this time by setting the right eye on your friend.
It is better to repeat the measurements two or three times to check the accuracy of pupillary gaps.

What are the different lenses materials?

There are 4 lenses materials: organic lenses, minerals, polycarbonate and trivex.
Most lenses sold today are organic lenses
.
  • The mineral lenses: Made from minerals, these are the lenses with the greatest resistance to scratches and abrasion. Their weight and fragility to breakage make this  lens less offered. It is strictly forbidden for use in perforated or nylor accessories, as well as for children.

  • Organic lenses :
In synthetic resin, they are called unbreakable glasses because they resist more shock (but less scratching) than mineral lenses, while being lighter. These are the only recommended  lenses on the uk.optical-center.fr website. They are also recommended for children.

  • Polycarbonate lenses : Ultra-resistant to breakage, polycarbonate glass is 20% thinner and lighter than organic glass. It is 12 times more resistant to shocks. It also blocks 100% of the UV. It is ideal for rimless frames.

  • Trivex glasses: : It is the most resistant glass on the market. Unbreakable, it does not crack and is less sensitive to scratches. It is ideal for children.

Where does our glasses come from?

All our glasses come from our partner BBGR, a subsidiary of Essilor International.
