Anyone who wears glasses will know that lenses get dirty very easily on a daily basis.
Regular spectacle lens cleaning is therefore essential to maintain clear, precise vision.
Here are the most important tips for cleaning your lenses without damage.
The lenses of prescription glasses can become fogged, dirty or even scratched on a daily basis.
The most common gesture for spectacle wearers is to wipe their eyeglass lenses with a microfibre cloth.
Using this specially designed cloth is the best way to quickly clean your lenses every day without scratching their surface.
When you buy your glasses, a microfibre cloth is usually included and can easily be renewed at your optician's.
It is also important to note that the cloth used to clean your prescription glasses also needs to be cleaned regularly to remain effective.
For a more thorough cleaning of your prescription lenses, you should clean them with soap and water.
The eyeglass lenses should be gently rubbed with your fingers and then dried with a soft cloth or in the open air.
To polish and disinfect your lenses, you can also use white vinegar mixed with water.
Some specially adapted cleaning products, such as cleaning sprays, are also available.
Whichever method is used, eyeglass lenses need to be cleaned gently, carefully and, above all, regularly.
Regardless of the lens type, spectacle lenses are always fragile and need to be handled with care.
Eyeglasses lenses can be easily scratched, especially if they are cleaned with the wrong cloths.
It is therefore strongly recommended that you do not wipe your lenses with your clothing.
In fact, the bad reflex of quickly wiping your eyeglass lenses with your T-shirt, sweater or shirt is very common.
You can clean your lenses with a cloth, but only if it's clean and made of soft cotton.
You should also never wipe your eyeglass lenses with a paper towel, which can scratch them, even very lightly.
Finally, never replace soap with a house cleaning product that could damage your lenses.
Feel free to ask your Optical Center optician for advice, as they may even offer a deep cleaning of your prescription glasses lenses.
