The right way to clean your pair of sunglasses
Wearers of prescription glasses know how important and essential it is to clean their eyeglasses properly.
And yet, sunglasses have to meet the same requirements in order to offer perfect visual sharpness and good sun protection.
To this end, here's how to clean your sunglasses properly and what pitfalls to avoid.
The right cleaning routine for sunglasses
As a general rule, our pair of sunglasses goes with us just about everywhere, especially during the summer months.
Sunglasses can then easily get dirty or fogged up, even if they're well preserved in their case.
So it's essential to take care of your sunglasses by cleaning them on a regular basis.
In fact, the process is pretty much the same as for a pair of prescription glasses.
For daily cleaning, simply wiping the lenses with a microfibre cloth is generally sufficient.
For more thorough cleaning, use a clean cloth soaked in cold soapy water to clean the lenses and frame.
A mixture of water and white vinegar can be used to remove grease and stains from the lenses.
Specific sprays and cleaning cloths for glasses can also be used as well.

What not to do when cleaning your sunglasses
To clean a pair of sunglasses properly, you also need to know the mistakes to avoid.
The first piece of advice is never to use hot water when cleaning lenses, as this can cause thermal shock.
As well, never use alcohol or detergents to clean sunglasses, since these products can damage the anti-UV coating on sunlenses.
Moreover, when lenses are being handled for cleaning, fingers should not be placed on the glass.
In this way, the pair will always be held by the temples or any other part of the frame.
It is also strongly recommended that you do not clean your sunglasses with anything other than a microfibre cloth or a soft cloth.
In fact, using a piece of clothing, a handkerchief or a paper towel is not at all appropriate and can damage the glass surface.
Finally, there are a few simple things you can do to keep your sunglasses clean.
For example, always store them in their case and avoid placing them lens-side down.
